Ingredients

For this French Gateau Marjolaine, you will need the following ingredients:

Instructions

The first step to making the French Gateau Marjolaine is to preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Then, spread the hazelnuts and almonds on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the nuts to cool before finely grinding them in a food processor.

Next, whisk the egg whites in a bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add the caster sugar, whisking continuously until the mixture is thick and glossy. Finally, fold in the almond extract.

In a separate bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Then, add the flour and nut mixture, stirring until combined. Next, fold in the egg white mixture until everything is well combined.
