Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

To make the cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder.
  3. Add in the eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. Slowly add in the hot water and mix until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow cake to cool completely before frosting.

To make the peanut butter frosting:

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and peanut butter until light and fluffy.
