Cake Pop Filling

Outside Cake Layers

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract. Alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Remove the cake pop filling from the refrigerator. Spoon the cake pop mixture onto the top of the cake batter, spreading it evenly to cover the top. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing.
